Having a lamp blink can be useful in many situations—for example, to signal that the plants need watering, the motion sensor in the shower has detected movement for 5 minutes, or as an alarm. With the Hub Mode in Controller for HomeKit, you can easily make a lamp blink. This guide explains how it works.
Start Event
Depending on your chosen scenario, you can add the desired start events here.
Steps
Add a "Get Accessory State" Step
If you want the lamp to blink by simply turning it on and off, read its current state first. This ensures the lamp returns to its original state after blinking.
Optional: If you want the lamp to blink in a specific color, you can also read the lamp’s current color.
Optional: Add a "Control Accessory" Step
Set the lamp to the desired color.
Add a "Control Accessory" Step
Turn the lamp on.
Add a "Wait" Step
Wait for one second.
Add a "Control Accessory" Step
Turn the lamp off.
Add a "Wait" Step
Wait another second.
Repeat the last four steps as many times as you’d like the lamp to blink.
Tip: You can duplicate individual steps by tapping the icon at the start of the desired step.
Add a "Control Accessory" Step
Restore the lamp to its original state by setting the power state to the previously saved value. If necessary, also reset the color to its original setting.
Final Overview
When the workflow runs, the lamp’s current state is saved. It then blinks as intended before seamlessly returning to its original state, ensuring no interruptions to its normal functionality.
